Wind Energy

Wind Power

Wind power is a green renewable source of energy generated from the wind. The flow of air through a wind turbine powers an electric generator to produce electric current. In essence, wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind to electricity.

Wind Turbine System

In a typical wind turbine system, there are inverter, charger and converter components and fiber links which play a crucial role in the energy conversion process and energy storage system (ESS). Broadcom offers a wide variety of optocoupler and industrial fiber optic solutions for wind turbine applications that address various technical challenges in the AC-DC, DC-DC and DC-AC power converters, battery bank (BB) charger, control board and communication unit, and turbine control unit (TCU).
